2nd November 2020 Thinning out the weeds?

 ~~

Monday 2nd 60F. Mild, with gales and a heavy overcast. The promised storm is reduced to a windy day. 18ms gusts are expected for many of today's daylight hours. That's about 40mph.

It was certainly windy but not as bad as I had feared. A longer walk today in fleeting, fast moving showers. Past the marsh pond. Where only a couple of dozen, visible ducks retreated upon my arrival. Onwards by the damp and muddy track which circumnavigates the marsh trees in their soggy hollow.

Two birds of prey took off unexpectedly. Though my rushed attempts to snap them were not sharp enough to share. And so on, along the windswept borders of the forest proper. Where fragile conifers shelter behind great oaks. Willows invade the dampest bits. Heavily punctuated by competitive birches. The strip of maize provides a sticky thoroughfare. For that rarest of rural walkers. Or the very occasional, weekend shooting match against unarmed wildlife.

We live in strange times. The experts are calculating the huge number of unnecessary deaths and infections caused by one presidential candidate's massed rallies. How do you re-elect the most dangerous threat facing American democracy? Not to mention the entire world as we know it.

Dunno. Better ask them. The rest of the world wasn't given a vote in the thermal destruction of their only home. All for the personal, tax-free profit and entertainment of the 1% and their deluded/retarded, heavily-indebted puppet.
