Fortunately I had chosen to wear my winter rain jacket out of respect for the temperature and wind. So I continued to a suitable halfway point before turning back. My 'fleece' trousers were already soaking wet, from the knees down, by then.
Avoiding intercontinental lorry, tyre spray became a bit of a chore on the return journey. There is not always enough width on the verge to distance myself adequately. I turn my back to the road but it isn't remotely pleasant to be sprayed by filth from head to toe!

The Danish news is that the mink-mutated, Jinping Plague has already spread to a retirement home. The cull of all Danish mink is expected to start immediately. Restrictions on movement are expected in the area worst affected in North Jutland. With the cull taking at least a month things are looking bleak.
No doubt some fur-brained, "wildlife activist" is already planning a major release into the wild to "save" the "poor little furry animals" from mass slaughter. Where the vicious creatures will cause mayhem amongst the indigenous birds and mammals. Not to mention spreading the mutated virus uncontrollably.
The "authorities" couldn't even organise the original culling properly. There was no container storage laid on as the ink bodies piled up in huge mounds on the bare ground. No doubt to be picked over by the gulls and rats. So don't expect a quick, clean and safe destruction of tens of millions more. The mink bodies will be burnt in refuse and district heating incinerators.
How will they clean the filthy, mink farm buildings? Burn them down? Send the virus into an aerosol cloud? To spread far and wide? Isn't that an even greater risk than leaving the farm to rot down over decades? No doubt they will use a toxic spray which has been banned for decades in the EU. The drinking water has contained illegal toxins for years but still hasn't been attended to.
There is still the obvious risk of spreading the mutated virus via the vast flocks of "mink gulls." There is also the matter of muck spreading the mink farm's vast, "waste" storage tanks onto open fields. There is even a trade in animal waste. With huge tankers running back and forth.
Has anybody [sensible] really thought this through? Am I safe to go for my morning walk in the countryside this morning? I am still feeling unwell this morning. Days after my last, longer walk in the countryside.
