30.11.2020 As if at a distance, dimly.

 ~~

Monday 30th 36F, heavy overcast but light winds so far. I took my long lens but saw only one [pale] bird of prey at 150 yards today. It kept moving on as I walked parallel to its hedgerow on the far side of the field. I was surprised to have captured a fair likeness at that distance in such poor light.

Tax-Free Google Advertising.com have just opened a vast new data centre in Denmark. It will provide the necessary capacity to handle some of their local advertising as they push their advertising eastwards to towards the Soviet Rust Belt.

A number of large, solar "farms" have been built to pretend that the data centre will be "green." How long it will actually take to undo its real CO2 footprint is quite another matter. They didn't dare use a large fraction of the entire Danish grid. Not when it was discovered the power stations here were burning Amazon Rainforest hardwoods shipped half way around the globe. That would have been bad PR. For Google, if not for <cough> "green" Denmark.

There was another news story on the difficulty of selling off all the land from the unused mink farms. Particularly now that the stock has been culled and fur farming may not be resurrected. Perhaps these areas could be turned into solar farms? Rather than over-paying grain farmers for the use of their agricultural land?
