6.11.2020 Mink cull going ahead.

 ~~

Friday 6th 51F, heavy overcast but calm. A pleasant, autumnal day with sunshine and mild temperatures is promised. A walk to the village in occasional sunshine as the overcast began to break up. Lots of birds about today.

An update on the mink virus mutation. World experts are suggesting that Denmark either hasn't shared the gene data quickly enough or are over-reacting. Given the appalling numbers of infections elsewhere I prefer the Danish attitude in putting people's safety first.

The 17 million mink to be culled should be destroyed within a few days according to those responsible. Compensation is still being argued over. Denmark was the largest supplier of mink to the world. The majority going to Japan and China. Vanity, vanity, all is vanity.
