In fact the mist became much thicker by the time I had escaped through the gates. Down to 100 yards/meters in places. The cold, white disk of the sun was visible at times. Briefly brightening to a moderate glare.
As usual, I amused myself by counting the number of rear fog lights. Or rather lack of them. It is entertaining to see the brake lights come on for a corner. Only for the car to vanish the instant the lights go off again. With a fog light showing, the single, red light carries on well into the distance. But everybody knows this already.
The sun came out eventually. It just took more time than I was prepared to sacrifice.
