It became lighter as I walked to the lanes. Even a teasing sun between the clouds. Thin mist softened the landscape. I saw a deer and a pheasant at close quarters. Neither seemed to know what to do. So they just stood there. Until I moved. A huge flock of geese went over at low altitude. Too many to capture in one picture. The traffic was light. As befits a national autumn holiday.
