Wednesday 5th 50F/10C [7.50] Another grey day. Possible showers. Wind slightly reducing. Up at 7am after a rather busy night at the fire bucket.
8.00 I shall be going for a walk soon.
9.00 Back from a half hour walk. Grey, breezy and cold. Busy traffic. The only highlight was the absence of the micro guard dog and the freedom to loop along the drives. This gets me away from the traffic noise and provides the beauty of trees and nature. The autumn colours are amazing. Even when it is overcast.
11.00-14.15 A 60km/37mile ride to various charity shops. I detoured to examine progress on several crossings of the new, high speed rail line. Which runs close to and parallel with the motorway. Considerable progress has been made with the new track bed, deep cutting retention walls and newly cast bridges. It was possible to see extended lengths of the new track bed level. Though still devoid of gravel.I used 74% of battery charge. Ending on 26% from 100%. I ate one sub-micro, dark chocolate Corny bar. Before turning for home. There was a headwind all the way back. As I rode home into a low, blinding sun. The brightly coloured trees and forests were gorgeous in the sunlight.
The wrist support seemed to help. While the Ryet saddle was variable in its level of comfort. Though still arguably better than any other I have tried. I wore an old pair of Wiggle's DHB padded shorts. Two soft shell jackets over a racing jersey kept me snug. Aided by a GripGrab "Aviator" medieval hood under my helmet. The stove has been lit. The temperature has risen from 64-67F.[18-19C.]
Dinner was an organic pork chop, mushrooms and boiled potatoes. Very tasty.
