Sunday 30th 44F/6.7C. Overcast with showers or rain earlier and later. Increasingly windy. Peaking at 17m/s around 18.00.
Up at 5.10 after another busy night. Back to bed for an hour until 8.30.
8.45 62F/16.7C in the room. So I have just lit the stove. I'll go for a walk as soon as the fire has stabilized.
9.50 Back from my walk. A male kestrel took flight for the second day in a row. It must have been perched on my neighbour's roof. At the end of the drive. A woman driver forced me to jump onto the verge to avoid being mown down. She was deliberately running along the white line on the edge of the road and made no effort to avoid me. I was almost certain she was grinning.
12.15 There was a burst of sunshine. So I went upstairs to turn on the telescope drives and mini-computer. Sadly the brightness only lasted a few seconds before it became a dark grey overcast. It has reached 68F/20C in the room. After starting at 61F/16C.
I spent the afternoon experimenting with my solar telescope. Taking measurements and adjusting the components. The sun was only clear for about a minute or two altogether. Just long enough to focus.17.30 I have just dragged one of the recycling bins the 100m along the drive in the pitch dark. Though the moon was visible in the SE as a glow behind the racing clouds. It is blowing an absolute gale out there! The peak has now been pushed forwards to 21.00 and 18m/s. Tomorrow's forecast is a repeat of today's. Gales again with early and late rain. There is no sunshine forecast for the next week.
Dinner was poached eggs on toast.
