9.08.20 Third yearly heatwave in a row.

~~

Sunday 9th 65-85F, a mixture of cloud and blue. Yet another hot day in prospect. A sweaty night with bedroom temperatures above 80F. This is the third year in a row that Denmark has had a heat wave.

A walk to the lanes in unpleasant heat as it climbed above 70F. There was slight northerly breeze to take the edge off on the return journey. A Red Kite circled low over the stubble fields on both legs of my journey.

I walked the spray tracks inside the field hedge to avoid slogging along the road in full sunshine.  A solitary hare was sitting bolt upright. Out in the very middle of a large, freshly harvested field. While a small [Roe] deer escaped along the hedge line before turning abruptly into the hedge to escape from my view.

The fields around our home were being harvested. The noise was remarkable whenever they came near. I hope they have AC in their cabs! The 84F heat indoors is only just tolerable while sitting in the draught from a large fan. Despite the trees on the boundary, the garden was full of falling dust. The car looks filthy again after being cleaned for the biennial test.

I opened the  car windows to let the heat out once they'd stopped harvesting. 75C inside on the cloth seats. The same temperature as the bonnet directly facing the sun. With luck the heat will have killed any remaining virus inside the car. I'm not sure how much good [non-alcoholic] wet wipes do against the virus.
