4.08.2020 The saga of the monstrous hedge.Cont'd.

~~

Tuesday 4th 50-70F, bright and clear. Cloud promised. And so it became warm but mostly cloudy.

It was only later in the morning that I had a pleasant walk to the lanes. Returning over the newly harvested field for some different viewpoints. The gulls were back in profusion. Distant activity in the fields. Still plenty to harvest.

The boots are now perfectly comfortable. Truly remarkable, so soon after purchase! Will it last?

The afternoon was spent on attacking the monstrous, prickly, eastern hedge again. It is so difficult to manage that it has grown much wider at the top. Each side is seriously overhanging instead of vertical.  So wide now that it is impossible to reach the middle from a ladder on our side. The other side hasn't been touched in at least 25 years. Except by ourselves with the permission of occupants who never cared.

Wednesday 5th 60-72F, cloudy but warm and windy all day. A walk around the block. I saw the White tailed eagle soaring and then landing on a distant tree. Too far away to photograph.

The hedge continues as the negative centre of attention and contention. The pile of severed branches grows ever larger by the hour. About as fast as the hedge and the mood became uglier.

I was climbing onto the top of the hedge to reach the last remaining upward sticking branches. Access to the other side is impossible now due to chest high weeds.

THG gave an executive order not to lower the hedge's height any further. It is probably at 10' [3m] now for most of its length and downright fugly! I'm having to wait to get the car back [tomorrow] before I can start shuttling endless trailer loads to the recycling yard. Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice has nothing on me when it comes to repetition under duress!
