Friday 28th 55-59F, heavy overcast. Yet again the forecasters are at odds. Early sun and later rain. Or early rain and later sunshine? Take your pick.
A walk to the far woods in spotting rain. Saw a couple of distant birds of prey. A solitary deer continued grazing until I peered through a gap in the hedge. It didn't seem too perturbed even while I snapped away from about 200 yards.
[280mm MFT = 560mm FF, 1/640s @ f6.3 ISO1000. Heavily cropped from 5184 x 3888 pixels to 1338 x 1071]
I was wearing a cheap, new, lightweight, camouflage jacket. So it may have been trying to make sense of my odd appearance.
Lots of birds about today. From Red kites to small clouds of sparrows. The latter were moving back and forth between the stubble fields and hedgerows. The farmers had been mowing around their corn crops. Presumably for easier winter access for hunters. Or, perhaps, to reduce contamination of their crop by surrounding weeds?
The corn was well over 8' tall beside the quiet lane I was walking along. A very pleasant hour's walk despite the slight dampness and overcast. Though a bit of sunshine would not have gone amiss. In fact it rained later in brief, bright sunshine. Further, possible cloudbursts are forecast for this evening.
