22.05.2020 Badlands/Great Depression Adventure Park?

~~

Friday 22nd 54F, bright start but a chance of rain this afternoon or evening. A walk to the lanes in warm sunshine and a pleasant easterly breeze.

I was teased by a hare. It watched as I slowly took out my camera and turned it on. It sat there motionless as I carefully raised the camera to frame the shot... and then it vanished into the oil seed rape crop. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

The Head Gardener will certainly be pleased if it rains! [As will I, of course, if it means that She lets My stress levels drop.]

The low rainfall has already turned Her soil "to dust!" From Her dire warnings I am almost expecting tumbleweed to be crisscrossing Her garden.

We had a long drought back in 2018. So this is becoming "a bit of a habit." The grass turned straw coloured back then! Perhaps She should order some desert plants online? Then She could have a cactus garden and offer camel rides to tourists. We could call it "Badlands Adventure Park" with a strong "Great Depression" theme.

We could pretend the cracked and dried up [winter flooding patches] on the fields are dried up lakes. And the empty house next door could be our abandoned, gold miner's shack. Or even our "abandoned gold digger's brothel and bar." We can pretend all our neighbours' visiting cats have become "feral."

Nah. It would never work. We don't have the space for a proper car park and you'd never get coaches down our narrow drive.
