Saturday 22nd 37F/2.8C. Bright sunshine and 8C/46F maximum will be rather spoilt by a strong, easterly wind. A chilly 61F/16C in the room. Everything in the garden is moving in the wind already.
Up at 6.45 after another quiet night. I can stand up and sit down again without severe pain in my legs. No immediate plans for today. Continue with the observatory demolition? Get rid of the heap of brambles? The garden waste recycling is open all day, every day. So there's no pressure there. No point in wasting a Saturday when I can go at any time that the whim takes me.
The recycling yard is open but there is nothing desperately needing to be cleared. Except for the large heap of unusable, demolition timber and plywood. The local yard's scrap metal system is absolutely ludicrous. Very tall shipping containers and lots of old farts struggling up the steep, metal stairs.
If I drive far enough, to another yard. I can comfortably toss the metal over a low wall into a sunken container. Quadruple the journey time though, compared to the local yard. Which makes a bit of a mockery regarding recycling to save the planet.
9.30 43F/6C. My legs are still stiff and achy. I have decided to begin the mammoth task of tidying and cleaning. In readiness for my official visitor on Monday. It takes ages to make a dent in my untidiness. I never have enough storage containers. Those I do have are always the wrong size. I am constantly trying to segregate tools and "stuff." Which demands ever more containers. Preferably shallow enough to quickly examine the contents and select my quarry without rummaging.
11.15. The greenhouse door is open to warm the house. Another day's worth of logs saved.
12.00 48F/9C. 65F/18C in the room. When in doubt put everything upstairs! Out of sight. Out of mind.
17.00 70F/21C in the room. Greenhouse door closed. The sun has gone behind the trees. My legs have recovered thanks to all the different activities.
I washed up first. Dinner was mackerel on toast in tomato sauce.
