16.03.2025 A 19km ride and brambles.

Sunday 16th 3F/2C [8.30] Sunshine struggling to break through the overcast.

Up at 7.30 after a very quiet night. I got up at 6.30 to use the fire bucket. Then went back to bed again. It looked like a thin layer of snow on the car. Or very thick frost. The car was just wet when I finally got up. I had a short lived nose bleed. 63F/17C in the room. The last log went out without burning. I ought to go for a walk.

Another loop around the spray tracks on the fields. The sun lost out to the cloud. The mud was much stickier than yesterday but manageable. Two geese were circling noisily. Lots of small birds singing in the hedgerows. Redwings were sharing the field with the crows.

10.30 Morning coffee over. 63F/17C. Stove lit. I was thinking about having a ride but it is heavily overcast, cold, breezy and drizzling.

Watched YT for an hour. Then attacked the brambles again. I am at least half way through. The missing trick was not raking at intervals. This exposes the long runners at ground level. It is surprisingly difficult to show my progress in photographs.

15.15 46F/8C. Overcast. Lunch over. I fancy a ride to the next shopping village to the north. No bananas or tomatoes in the larder. There is a northerly breeze. So I will enjoy a tailwind coming home.

15.45 49F/9C. Rather cloudy with occasional sunshine. Returned from a 19km ride to the shops. It felt much colder than the thermometer suggested. I found everything I needed. The shortages in the previous supermarket outlet have been moved to the new outlet. So I shopped next door for organic bananas.

Dinner was chicken, mushrooms and baked beans. With a bread roll and a beer.
