27.07.20 Boris' campaign against obesity is a big fat zero.

~~

Monday 27th 62-70?F, bright start but then the sky turned white. More blue now but very little. No walk yet. Too busy so far.

The poor old car has to be inspected. Which means contacting a workshop, in person, with the car. Just to see, yet again, if it is worth the expense of hanging onto it for another couple of years. The car may be old but it has always been reliable. Repairs to keep it going have been just affordable but far cheaper than a replacement car.

It is impossible to calculate the value of always having a car ready for use. Even if it hardly ever moves. Buying another, secondhand car is always a complete lottery. Even with a brand new Test certificate!

Now there are all sorts of potential problems with increasing numbers of pandemic carriers in society as a whole. Anyone offering a hands-on, public service has lots of contacts. One in seven infected people show no symptoms at all. You do the maths.

Fat Boris' promise to do something major about obesity amounts to a big fat zero. Fortunately, for him, it doesn't really matter because most fat people are poor. There is to be a ban on advertising junk "food" before 9pm. Yawn. Stricter rules on calorie marking for takeaway chains with a multi-billionaire in charge and lots of slave wage workers. "Buy one meal get one free" deals are to be looked at again by [say] 2120. So, not much to talk about really.

A walk to the lanes after lunch. Rain is forecast.
