26.07.20 Fat Boris to fight Gravely Blighted's flab.

~~~
Sunday 26th 61F, heavy overcast, very windy and all day rain forecast. That means I have to go for a walk in the wind and the rain.Fortunately I timed it to perfection and went as soon as the rain stopped.
Though, foolishly, I wore a tailored PU sealed jacket. Like wearing a bin bag but only slightly more flattering. It belongs strictly in the mobile sauna bin. Only 63F today but I was already sweating by the time I had reached the gate. It all comes <cough> flooding back from my youth.
Tomorrow, Fat Boris [The Commons Circus Clown and Token Ringmaster] is to announce new measures to combat obesity in the UK. Or perhaps just England? Bits of England as a cheap trial? Home counties? Bits of central London as a cost cutting exercise? Whatever. Expect nothing of the politicooze classes and you will never be disappointed. Taxation on sugar? You must be joking! A ban on advertising sugar-laden crap? Nonsense! It will never happen!
Two thirds of UK adults are now obese. There were warning headlines to the US about their obesity pandemic right back in the 1950s! That is 70 years ago! It went on getting [much] worse and they weren't ready for the JPV either! Statistics make the obese [including Boris] at far greater risk from the JPV [Jinping Pandemic Virus.]
Let's say the second virus wave arrives with vastly more infected out in society and newly relaxed social distancing. Party 'til you drop!
That's 2/3 of new cases who would all need ICU and respirators. Just because they are fat!  Even if the health service can cope [unlikely] that means well over 250,000 deaths.
Boris readily admits that he had a bad case of Jinping simply because he was overweight. A euphemism for being fat. Obesity is already a well known cause of many chronic and often terminal, health problems. Heart, lungs, cancer, etc. etc.. [You know the drill.] The JPV has just brought it into closer focus. i.e. It looms much larger. The problem is that you can't shed all those tons of lard overnight. Not even within a year in most cases.
Let's say they get a vaccine this year. [Again unlikely.] Will the obese be first in line for the jab? To improve their chance of survival. Isn't that major genetic engineering to conceal an already deadly, genetic trait? [Obesity!] Or will they have to narrowly target limited, vaccine supplies? Keeping it strictly for the slim and the young [and the rich and the good looking?] Protecting those who are far more likely to survive without major intervention in the nation's genetic [cess]pool.
