2.1.2024 Another roundtoit.

Tuesday 2nd 39F/4C. A very wet forecast from this afternoon for the next two days. There is a warning out for heavy rain in our area. Possible heavy snow in the north of Jylland.

Up at 6.30 after several visits to the fire bucket in the night. Last night's coffee was a bad idea. Even if it was early.

07.30 Stove lit. It was 62F/17C in the room. This did not feel chilly in bed or after I was up.

09.30 Back from a short walk. It was cold, damp and grey. Not helped by the cold SE breeze. No pictures.

10.00 68F/20C in the room. I have brought another load of logs in and filled the rack. The stack in the greenhouse doesn't look as if there is a week's worth left. Far from it. So I will have to risk a drive to the timber yard for another trailer load. The old car misbehaved last time I was out. It refused to start once it was away from home. I shall leave the buying of new logs until tomorrow. The opening times for today are unclear on their website.

I have ordered an identical battery to that presently in the old car. Plus a smart battery charger. The battery manufacturers recommend that the battery should be fully charged from first purchase. To ensure the longest life. Whether it is driven or not. The Morris Minor has had a new battery. It has only been used intermittently for relatively short journeys. So that too will benefit from being fully charged. Both units should arrive tomorrow.

I have several, decades old, battery chargers. All bought from charity shops for literally pocket change. They are old style, steel boxes and mostly charge at around 1A. Modern battery chargers have multiple functions and can recharge at much higher rates. I chose the 5A Noco Genius for emergencies. Which has thousands of positive reviews. This model can even repair and recondition batteries. Left to their own devices they will also trickle charge.

Dinner was sausage, egg and chips. I halved the cut off sausages with kitchen scissors. To ensure they cooked right through.

The rain is supposed to start now. Then carry on right through until Thursday morning.
