11.06.2020 Y'all want a rain of blood with that?

~~

Thursday 11th 55F, overcast, damp and very windy. Rain was forecast and then downgraded to overcast. An early walk is likely before I start rambling on about the irrelevant. The forecast was wrong. At halfway the landscape was obscured by the sheer weight of falling rain!

Luckily I had worn my winter walking jacket out of respect for the wind and leaden sky. I sheltered beneath a roadside tree for a while but soon pressed on. Into the teeth of the constant traffic and the tyre spray from the empowered and the entitled.

Those who spent so much on their private commuter, just to get to work, that they could [allegedly] no longer afford the [purely voluntary] driving lessons. Or do you have some other explanation for the daily carnage? Which makes the pandemic look like an extended holiday for medical workers.

1.35 million, worldwide, average, annual, death toll. Pedestrians and cyclists bear the brunt of bad driving. This huge, annual death toll is tolerated without any real effort to keep death off the roads. Driving license ownership is a basic human right. Even for repeat offenders, serial killers, drunks and drug addicts.

Here's some more slavery news: In the true spirit of filthy rich football: Filthy oil rich Qatar is not paying its immigrant workers for building their stadia for the coming World Cup. Now that is overt racism as well as blatant slavery. Not that you'd find a single spectator, nor wealthy player, willing to forego attendance out of conscience or empathy. Most immigrant workers send money home to support impoverished families. Wealthy footballers buy palaces and luxury cars. Talking of which: Many of the palaces in Denmark were owned, or built, by slave traders.
