9.02.2025 Cupboard quest.

Sunday 9th 34F/1C [7.30] Overcast. Cloudy, but a mostly dry forecast.

Up at 6.00 after another quiet night. Only 64F/18C in the room. I'll get around to lighting the stove soon.

Two flea markets are open this morning. I shall continue my search for a bathroom cabinet. I saw a potentially nice one yesterday at a house clearance sale. With a pretty marble slab top. The pine had been hideously stripped and treated with a greasy looking stain. Not to mention it being too narrow. I left it to sit unloved.

9.30 Back from a brisk walk to the lanes. A Tesla passed being used for driving instruction. A few gulls went over. Stiff winged, soaring on the northeasterly wind. I was comfortable with a tailwind. Then had to close and zip up my jacket on the return leg. The stove had gone out in my absence. It responded to some kindling in the embers.

9.50 The flea market will be open when I get there. Shopping on the way home.

11.50 Returned from a tour of three more flea markets in the Morris. Still nothing remotely suitable. I'll ride into the village after lunch.

I visited another three flea markets. Still no cupboards. Though I did see more and more of the vintage display cabinets. More grocery shopping.

Drove to another village where a local flea market had moved to new premises. Closed at 1pm. Open again on Monday mornings. The car was misbehaving again. Backfiring and running jerkily. It feels as if it could stop completely at any time.

Dinner was chicken, mushrooms, peas and boiled potatoes.
