A rare 1950s Higgins Ultralite racing tricycle in original condition.

Condition; As original as possible - The trike has been cleaned and carefully rebuilt. The rear axles have been cleaned and re-greased. New parts include a modern sealed bearing headset, new cables, brake pads, tyres and handlebar tape. All the remaining components (to my knowledge) are original to the machine.

Brakes - Dual (fork mount and crown mount) Mafac centre pulls with Mafac levers

Bad Bits; There are some areas of paint loss and surface corrosion to the frame and these have been soaked in penetrating oil.  Have had three spokes replaced, the others are worn (but original) The crank and axle bearings are a bit grumbly

Blog edit:

9625 is from April 1959 according to Chris Hewitt's  "Higgins Register."

The frame is listed as a 23", OWD with a 27.5" overall axle width. Probably having a 23.5" track. So quite a lively, lightweight ride.

I have added Gamma, Contrast and Sharpen in PhotoFiltre to the original auction images. No resize was necessary. Excellent photography by the vendor of a nice, original, Higgins trike.

This trike sold quickly for £575!
