29.07.2025 47km in a gale.

Tuesday 29th 56F/13.3C [7.00] Bright, with a mixture of cloud, showers and sunny periods promised.

Up at 6.10 after a fairly quiet night. No disturbances from the fish for a change. They have finally gone out to the greenhouse pond. Where they continue to behave nervously. I have been feeding hem on each approach to show I represent no further danger. After yesterday's drama of being caught and transported. It is funny to watch the large fish swimming with the tiny. An 8:1 size ratio.

I had an email to confirm my solar telescope had arrived at the German dealer and repair service.

Sunshine suggests a ride. Though the westerly wind is a likely to be a factor on the way home. It eats into battery charge. Because I am sitting so upright. I usually head east. To avoid falling into the sea to the west. The undeveloped coastline is only 10km away. Though Assens is to the southwest at a similar distance. The only other town of any size is Middelfart. On the NW coast of the island of Fyn. Where there are bridge crossings to Jylland [Eng.Jutland.]

7.30 Time for a walk. It is quite cool this morning. Though it should reach 20C/68F after lunch. I have left the second battery on charge. Still no concrete plans for a particular goal.

7.40-8.10 A brisk walk in quiet traffic. Several minutes between vehicles. Gulls exploring the harvested prairies.

10.15-12.45 47km ride. It was so windy that I soon dropped any idea of a serious ride. I headed north to see the progress on the new, high speed, railway line. Stopping at a sand and gravel pit for a choccy bar and apple juice. Marked the arrival of rain. It was extremely localized and I soon rode out from under the huge cloud. It was dry after that until the last village before home. Where the roads were wet for only a few hundred meters.

My route ensured a crosswind for most of the journey. So that I often had to lean on the wind. Just to maintain a straight course. Quite a few cyclists were out training or touring. I caught up with a tiny tot pedaling madly on her bike along a rural cycle path. While being accompanied by her mother on her own bike. Eventually the mother told the child to keep to the right. So I was finally able to overtake them.

I am expecting a visit by the lady from the village this afternoon. Which meant a swift tidy up.

5.50  We chatted for well over two hours.

Dinner was fried chicken, mushrooms, fried bread, tweggs and tomatoes. The slice of wholemeal bread was toasted first. To thaw it out from the freezer. It was fine but probably needed more oil. To become real, [greasy?] fried bread.
