Friday 9th 44F/6.7C [7.15] Another sunny day is promised. Windier though. Up at 6.40 after a quiet night. Late to bed as I worked my way through the return of online shoe purchases. One online bike shop offers a flat rate of 45kr [£5.20] for returned packages. Another sent me off on a lengthy paper chase to spend 100kr [£11.40] The latter claiming "the lowest freight charges in Denmark."
Which [IMO] is clearly a lie, downright fraud or false advertising. [IMO] I had better be careful. You are not allowed to mention nor show anything allegedly illegal online in Denmark. The whistleblower can and has been far more heavily punished than a serial crook!
My English friend is coming over this morning. I have a monumental task of tidying ahead. Thanks to recent furniture purchases and the changes they brought.
Vacuumed, mopped, dusted, wiped and tidied. Not necessarily in that order.
My friend has left after a pleasant chat. He is building a future proof home computer with all the latest bells and whistles.
It seems almost magical how technology has progressed. I researched all the possibilities and international reviews. Multiple, global, online websites asking different prices. I then chose, ordered and paid for two pairs of shoes online from two different Danish businesses. I was then kept informed of the rapid progress of my order, same day dispatch and next day delivery at every stage. Both on my phone and my PC.
I tried them on but found both pairs too small. So I used my PC to manage the return paperwork via the business websites. Then paid the parcel delivery company online for the return service. Which then sent me QR codes for both parcels via email. I photographed these incongruous codes with my phone.
Then took the parcels to the local petrol station. Where the young girl scanned my phone screen. To automatically produce two completed return labels. To stick straight onto the parcels. I smiled and thanked the girl and went on my way. It's all a far cry from the sports hall sized computers. Which I worked around in my teens.
The next stage is a bare foot scanner app for my phone. Which is then cross referenced with global manufacturer's data. For toe box size and breadth of fitting for every shoe size they claim to manufacture in every style. So that I am not wasting my valuable time [and there's.] By not ordering shoes which will never fit me.
I have split today's post as it was getting a bit long.
