7.08.2024 37km.

Wednesday 7th 62F/17C [6.30] Bright start but potentially heavy rain this afternoon.

Up just before 6am. A midge bit me on my hands during the night.

8.30 Returning from my walk. I tootled down the neighbour's shared drive before reaching the lanes. Traffic rather busy. A few gulls wandering about. Looking for an easy breakfast as the fields are worked. Following the harvest.

I might as well enjoy a ride this morning. Rain and a haircut means using the car later.

12.50 Back home from a 37km ride. I found a nice pair of shorts in a charity shop. The wind picked up a little and it clouded over at 12.00.

16.00 68F/20C. It started raining as I left the hairdressers. The first lightning then thunder on the way home in the Morris. The rain increased steadily. It was drumming on the car roof as I arrived at home.

Dinner was chicken and mushrooms with oven chips.

Tuesday 6th 57F/14C [6.40] Bright with another sunny day promised.  24C/75F by late afternoon. A southerly breeze.

Up at 5.15 after a quiet night with weird dreams. I have a dental appointment around lunch time.

8.30. 67F/19C. Back from a warm and sunny, deliberately brisk walk to the lanes. A large tractor was spraying off a harvested, roadside field. Though at a distance by the time I arrived and he soon stopped. Probably to go back to the local farm for more chemicals. A harrier sized bird of prey sailed across the field beside the lane. Soon lost behind trees. The traffic was quite busy this morning. The holidays must be over for some of them.

Spent some time during the morning looking at the sun with my small, solar telescope.

14.30 Returning from the dentist and visiting a lady in the village on the way home. The dentist used a scanner inside my mouth. It takes lots of close-up pictures and sends them to a laptop with special software. This process was repeated for the upper and lower jaws and the teeth. Followed by similar scanning of my teeth when they were gently biting on each other.

17.30 It is still 74F/23C now in breezy sunshine.

Dinner was salad. There was no tuna in the supermarket. So I used boiled eggs instead.

5.08.2024 Sunny. 19km.

  Monday 5th 53F/12C [06.30]. Bright overcast?

Up at 5.45 after another weird night. Strange dreams and lying awake.

My lower back needs a walk. Perhaps a ride later.

8.15 Back from a brisk walk to the lanes. The harvest is highly variable from field to field. Large fields are still untouched. Others have been harvested, baled, mucked, raked and resewn. The traffic was light. Warm sunshine. My shorts helped me to stay cool.

13.00 72F/22C. I have returned from a 19km ride. I was going to the village shops but decided to detour. Beautiful countryside along the rural lanes. I found a route I hadn't ridden for years. It was on the trike last time. With some sharp bends to test my nerve. Huge lorries came and went from a sprawling bio-gas site.

A perfect day for a ride. Warm, but not hot and a pleasant breeze. The dropper post behaved itself. The Brooks B67 saddle wasn't too uncomfortable.

I spent the afternoon doing laundry and dozing over YouTube. Oh, and cleaned as much of the brown algae from the fish tank. As I could easily reach. I still haven't emptied the little tank.

Dinner was chicken, mushrooms and two fried eggs. Followed by a bread roll with vegetable based spread instead of butter. I get conflicting medical advice from YouTube. On which is the least dangerous or the most beneficial.
